Project overview
Campus Marketplace is a full-stack peer-to-peer e-commerce platform designed specifically for North-West University students. The system provides a secure online marketplace where students can list, discover, and purchase second-hand items such as textbooks, electronics, clothing, notes, and stationery within a trusted campus community. Students can create listings with product descriptions, images, prices, and collection details, while buyers can search, filter, and add items to a shopping cart before completing secure payments through the PayFast payment gateway. The platform also includes features such as real-time cart management, item categorization, and image storage, ensuring a smooth buying and selling experience. Administrators oversee the marketplace through an analytics dashboard, where they can approve listings, manage users, monitor transactions, and enforce platform rules. Built using Next.js, Firebase, Tailwind CSS, and Cloud Firestore, the platform offers a scalable, secure, and production-ready solution for student-based digital commerce.
