Research summary

Project overview

The F.Ed HMS Teaching & Learning System is a web and mobile platform developed for North-West University (NWU) to support digital teaching and learning activities. The system allows students to submit video-based assignments, track grades, and receive lecturer feedback through a centralized platform. It improves academic management by providing a structured environment where assignments, feedback, and performance tracking can be handled efficiently. Students can log in securely, manage their profiles, upload assignment videos, and monitor their marks through a gradebook. Lecturers and administrators manage the academic environment by reviewing submissions, providing feedback, and maintaining system operations. The platform is built using Flutter for web and mobile interfaces, Node.js for backend APIs, and MySQL for data storage, with large media files stored on Backblaze B2 cloud storage. It is hosted on Hetzner Cloud infrastructure using Docker containers, ensuring scalability, secure access, and reliable deployment for both web and mobile users.
