Research summary

Project overview

ResHelp is a cloud-based maintenance management system designed for university residences to streamline how maintenance issues are reported and resolved. The platform replaces informal reporting methods with a centralized digital system where students can submit maintenance requests, track progress, and receive updates in real time. Students can report issues such as electrical or plumbing problems by providing descriptions, priority levels, locations, and optional photo uploads. Maintenance staff can accept assignments, update repair statuses, and mark issues as resolved, while residence managers monitor the entire process through analytics dashboards and performance reports. The system tracks requests through multiple stages including Pending, Assigned, In Progress, and Resolved, improving transparency and communication between students, staff, and administrators. Built using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Node.js, Python, and PostgreSQL/MySQL, and hosted on AWS or Microsoft Azure, ResHelp provides a scalable and efficient solution for managing residence maintenance operations.
